Comparison

The best AI blog automation tools in 2026, compared honestly

Eleven tools, every price read on the vendor's own site on 2 September 2026. Where a vendor no longer publishes a figure, the cell says so instead of repeating a number from a review blog. ForgR is one of the eleven and we sell it, so the last section is about where ForgR loses.

How this list was built

Three rules, because comparison pages in this category are usually affiliate lists with invented prices.

  • Prices come from the vendor's own pricing page, read on 2 September 2026. No review sites, no press releases.
  • Monthly billing, not the annual promo. Several vendors load their page with the discounted annual view already selected. Comparing one tool's annual promo against another's list price makes the table lie by 30 to 50 percent.
  • If we could not verify it, the cell says "not published". Two tools in this list no longer print a price. That is information, not a gap.

The distinction that decides everything

"AI blog automation" covers three different products, and most disappointment comes from buying the wrong one.

  • Optimisers. They analyse the SERP and grade a draft. A human still writes. NEURONwriter and Surfer live here.
  • Writers that publish. They generate articles and push them into a CMS you already run. Most of this list. You still own the site, the hosting and the maintenance.
  • Blog systems. They create the blog, host it, and keep publishing to it. ForgR is in this category, and the category is small.

If you already have a WordPress with traffic, category two is probably right and this page will point you there. If you have no site, or five sites nobody has time to feed, category three exists for you.

Reading the table without fooling yourself

Cost per article is not the same as cost. On published article counts, SEOWriting.ai works out at roughly $0.38 an article at entry, Machined around $0.63, ForgR around $2.13, Byword around $3.96. On that number alone ForgR is one of the most expensive on the list and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What the ForgR price also covers is the blog itself, the hosting, the SSL, the domain at cost and the monitoring. If you already have a site, you are paying for something you own. If you do not, the cheaper tools have not yet solved your first problem.

Credits are not articles. Koala sells words, Autoblogging.ai and Arvow sell credits. A long article can consume several. Do the arithmetic on your own article length before comparing to a per-article plan.

Two vendors changed shape. contentatscale.ai now 301-redirects to brandwell.ai and the price left the pricing page with it; see the Content at Scale alternative page. journalistai.com is now a parked domain listed for sale, and Arvow looks like its successor (arvow.com still serves a journalist-ai-logo asset), though no redirect asserts the link, so treat it as probable rather than confirmed.

Outranking deserves a warning. outranking.io answers with HTTP 200, but the page served is a static rebuild of their old WordPress site, and the prices on it (four figures a month, with an inert billing toggle) are not credible as current. A login at apps.outranking.io still responds, so the product is not conclusively dead. It is simply not in a state where anyone should hand it a card on the strength of its website.

Which one to pick, by situation

  • You have a WordPress and you write, you just want the drafts sharper. An optimiser. NEURONwriter from $23, or Surfer if you prefer their editor. Neither will publish for you at the entry tier.
  • You have a WordPress and you want volume, cheap. SEOWriting.ai or Autoblogging.ai at $19, or Machined at $19. All three publish into WordPress on their entry plan. This is the best value on the list if the site already exists, and we will say that plainly.
  • You are an agency pushing serious volume into client sites. Byword at $99 for 25 articles, or Arvow at $99 with 150+ languages. You pay per article; you keep full control of the destination.
  • You have no site, or several sites and no writers. A blog system. ForgR at $32 gives you the blog, the domain and the hosting, and at $75 it gives you five of them with 60 articles a month. See the pricing page and the multi-blog strategy guide.
  • You want AI-answer visibility, not just rankings. Almost nothing on this list tracks it. ForgR does on Growth and Scale through Gaïa; start with the indicators worth tracking.

Where ForgR loses

The part of a comparison page that is usually missing. ForgR is the wrong tool if any of these matter to you.

  • Cost per article. Four tools on this list are cheaper per published article, several by a wide margin.
  • Raw volume. ForgR tops out at 180 articles a month across 15 blogs. Autoblogging.ai sells 5,000 credits and Machined sells 2,000 articles at the top end.
  • Content scoring. No SERP score, no NLP term list, no plagiarism check. NEURONwriter and Surfer own that ground.
  • White label and client access. ForgR has neither today. An agency cannot give a client their own dashboard. If that is a requirement, stop here.
  • Not a WordPress host and not a WordPress plugin. ForgR hosts its own blogs on Cloudflare Pages; it connects to an existing WordPress over the API, without a plugin and without migrating anything.
  • Language breadth. Arvow advertises 150+ languages. ForgR does not compete on that.

Nothing on this list writes a strategy. Every one of them makes publishing cheaper, which is only useful once you know what should be published. Start with the keyword question, then buy the tool that fits the answer.

FAQ

What is the cheapest AI tool that publishes to WordPress?

On prices read on 2 September 2026, Koala AI starts at $9 a month with one-click WordPress publishing, and Autoblogging.ai, SEOWriting.ai and Machined all start at $19 with WordPress publishing on the entry plan. NEURONwriter is cheaper to enter at $23 but does not publish to WordPress below its $69 Gold plan.

Which AI tools host the blog as well as write it?

Very few. Of the eleven tools compared here, only ForgR creates and hosts the blog itself, on Cloudflare Pages with the domain included. The others publish into a site you already own, host and maintain.

What happened to Content at Scale?

It was rebranded as BrandWell. contentatscale.ai returns a 301 permanent redirect to brandwell.ai, and the pricing page no longer displays plan prices; the pricing links lead to a lead form instead.

Is Journalist AI still available?

journalistai.com is a parked domain listed for sale. Arvow, at arvow.com, appears to be the successor and still serves a journalist-ai-logo asset on its own pages, but no redirect confirms the link. Arvow's monthly plans start at $99.

Do these tools get you cited by ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews?

Publishing more articles helps only if they are structured to be quoted. Volume alone does not earn citations. Most of the tools here optimise for Google rankings rather than AI answers; see our guide on structuring content for AI citations.
