Understand ForgR

Domains and subdomains

Free .forgr.co subdomain, domain purchase at cost, or connecting your own domain: how it works and how to set up your DNS.

Four address options

At the Domain step of creation, you have four choices.

Free .forgr.co subdomain

You pick an identifier and your blog is available at your-blog.forgr.co. Availability is checked live. It is included in every plan, including the free one, with hosting and SSL. Nothing to configure: ideal for testing.

Buy a domain

You search and buy a domain straight from ForgR, at cost (for example a .com for around 10 euros per year), with no markup. The domain is billed separately from your subscription. This option requires a paid plan.

Use a domain you already have

If you already bought a domain through ForgR, you select it from the list.

Connect your own domain

Already own a domain elsewhere? Enter it, and ForgR shows you the DNS record to create at your registrar:

TypeNameValue
A@194.5.157.121

Once the record is created, click Check DNS. ForgR verifies resolution (including if you use the Cloudflare proxy) and confirms when everything is set. DNS propagation may take a little while depending on your registrar.

Hosting and SSL

Whatever domain you choose, hosting, HTTPS and the CDN are handled by ForgR and included in every plan. No server to administer, no certificate to renew.

Domain and subscription are separate

Your ForgR subscription covers generation, publishing and hosting. The domain is yours: you bring it for free, or buy it at cost. The domain is never included in the subscription price.

If you stop using ForgR

You keep your domains (you can point them elsewhere), your content (downloadable) and the indexing already earned. You lose automatic generation, publishing, internal linking and included hosting.

Free plan and domains

The free plan is limited to the .forgr.co subdomain. To connect or buy a custom domain, move to a paid plan. See Plans and billing.
